Elders are a pillar of our community.

KCAP recognizes that elders face unique challenges after resettling in the United States. Loneliness, isolation, and increased difficulty with language and technology accessibility mean our elders need support to thrive here in Philadelphia.

Our elders are the keepers of the Karen language, memory, and tradition, and they require nurturing. KCAP's Thriving Elders Program brings Karen seniors together through weekly gatherings and monthly outings to create moments of connection and combat the isolation that so many elder refugees face. For just $100, you can support a week of community and conversation. For $300, you can give our elders a day excursion: a chance to laugh and feel at home in Philadelphia. Caring for our elders honors all that they have carried for us.
